UBC Physics Olympics

WHAT: UBC will be holding a type of “Physics Olympics” in which students will compete for medals in 6 science events, and the school of the team with the highest overall score will receive a trophy and other awards.

WHERE: UBC campus in Vancouver at the Hennings (Physics) Building.

WHEN: Saturday, March 10, 2012

WHY: To gain experiance in the Physics world, and learn more about the UBC campus

WHAT: This is an open house for students who are intersted in RESEARCH in many different forms.

WHY: You will be able to visit research labs and interact with researchers at the University of British Columbia

UBC Computer Science Workshops

WHAT: This is an opportunity for grade 8-12 students who wish to go into the field of computer science. There will be guest speakers from companys like Microsoft, pixar, google … and more! Aswell you will be involved in labs and discussion with the faculty leaders.

WHEN: This will be taking place on january 21st, march 3rd, and march 31st

WHY: you will gain great information in the field of computer science and have fun while doing it.

Summer Science Immersion

WHAT: This is a camp for students who are interested in the science field. There are opportunities in which you can participate in  research experiments, and group activities.

WHEN: it will be a one month camp from July 1st untill August 11th. Registration begins on october 1st 2011.

SOLVE A MURDER WITH GENETICS!

WHAT: Genome BC and Capilano University have once again teamed up to create a workshop inwhich students will participate in alot of fun projects revolving aroung the genes within a crime scene.

WHAT: This is an opportunity for students and parents to go to UBC And learn more about the engineering faculty. There will be sweet demonstrations, Lab tours, and informative presentations.

BC GREEN GAMES!

WHAT: Science World is thrilled to announce the fourth year of BC Green Games! This is an initiative designed to promote energy conservation, and sustainability. Schools will create Eco-Action projects and will document them in forms of Powerpoint, essay, or video in which the success of their action plan will be outlined.  The winning school will receive up to $20,000 !!!!!

WHEN:  REGISTRATION: September 15th-November 30th
                    SUBMISSION: Febuary 1st- March 1st
